DAY 2: Ecological Trail, Great Ceibo & Medicinal Plants
We’ll start the day with a nutritious breakfast and then get ready with our rubber boots.
Our native guides, who are experts in Spanish, English, and interpreting the sounds of birds and monkeys, will lead you through the dense and humid jungle, crossing muddy paths, encountering all kinds of wildlife, and learning about Amazonian medicinal plants. You can choose the type of walk—from easy to challenging, with durations ranging from 30 minutes to 4 hours.
1:00 PM | Lunch
Tubing: This experience takes place from our sandy river beach. Equipped with a life jacket and helmet, you’ll practice your paddling technique and dive into the water, feeling the thrill of the descent at your own pace while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding jungle.
Gold in the Rivers… For centuries, adventurers were drawn to South America in search of gold, mainly found in river sediments—a reality that still persists today. Locals spend hours meticulously sifting through stones and sand in search of golden traces as their livelihood. As we float down the river, you’ll have the opportunity to observe this process, using the same techniques passed down through generations.
Dinner: In the evening, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner with local dishes and relax at the lodge, sharing experiences at the Oasis Bar.
Campfire Night…
8:30 PM | Night Walk: Those who wish to explore the jungle in the dark can join an exciting night walk. Equipped with personal flashlights, we’ll venture into the night to discover the fascinating nocturnal life of the Amazon rainforest.
DAY 3: Parrot Cave & Chuyan Urku Waterfall
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Kichwa Community of Ilayaku.
Our first stop will be the Ilayaku Viewpoint, about a 45-minute walk, where you can enjoy views of the Napo River, spot local birds and monkeys, and take in the treetops. We’ll continue our journey to reach the Parrot Clay Lick, an incredible wildlife display where hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to consume mineral-rich soil, an essential part of their diet. Don’t forget your binoculars to capture this unique moment.
After a short additional hike, we’ll arrive at a small waterfall where you can cool off before returning to the community. Back in the community, you’ll have the chance to learn about the lives of the Amazon’s first nations: how they dress, what they eat, how they cook, and how they use forest resources in their daily lives. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and try traditional drinks and foods; they love sharing their ancestral knowledge and raising awareness about their culture and environment.
7:30 PM | Dinner and Lodging
