DISCOVERY PROGRAM | SUCHIPAKARI

After coordinating with the hotel, one of our representatives from Suchipakari Eco-Lodge will greet you at the Lower Pusuno area and accompany you to the reception, marking the start of your exciting adventure in the Amazon rainforest.

During this short trip, you’ll only need to carry your hand luggage and camera gear, as our friendly staff will take care of transporting the rest of your luggage.

Upon arrival at the reception, our manager will welcome you with a refreshing energizing drink and provide a brief introduction to the tropical rainforest, the available spa therapies, and the various activities and sites you can explore during your stay at Suchipakari Eco-Lodge. This introduction aims to give you an overview and get you excited about the adventure ahead.

The Discovery Program begins with lunch on the first day and ends with breakfast on the last day of your stay. If you arrive after lunch hours, you may request in advance to have the lunch moved to your last day.

At reception, you can book massages, therapies, exfoliation treatments, or add adventure activities such as waterfall rappelling ($15), bicycle rental ($15), half-day rafting ($39), or full-day rafting ($60). Throughout your stay, you are welcome to freely use the inner tubes, kayaks, rowing canoes, pool area, and private beach.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Ecological Trail Walk: Giant Ceibo Tree & Medicinal Plants:

After Lunch, get ready with your rubber boots as our native guides, who are experts in Spanish, English, and interpreting the sounds of birds and monkeys, will lead you on a journey through the thick, humid jungle. You’ll traverse muddy paths, encounter all kinds of wildlife, and learn about Amazonian medicinal plants.

Tubing Afternoon: This thrilling experience takes place from our private sandy beach on the Pusuno River.

After gearing up with a life jacket and helmet, you’ll practice your paddling technique and plunge into the water to feel the adrenaline of floating downstream at your own pace on the tubes.

Return to the Lodge and use of facilities.

7:30 PM | Dinner

8:30 PM | Night Walk: For this excursion, a flashlight and camera are essential to capture and listen to the sounds of nocturnal monkeys, bats, owls, insects, tarantulas, a wide variety of amphibians, snakes, and caimans in the swamp near the lagoon.

DAY 2

After breakfast, we will head to the Lower Pusuno port, where we’ll board a motorized canoe for a 45-minute ride downstream. During the trip, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Napo River and spot bird and monkey species unique to the area.

Our first destination will be Amazónico, an Animal Rescue Center located on the Arajuno River. With the help of volunteer guides, we will learn about the experiences of ocelots, tapirs, peccaries, and a variety of birds, from parrots and toucans to macaws, all of which are working daily to re-adapt to the wild. This part of the tour is essential for continuing to ensure the protection of these animals and raising environmental awareness.

We will then continue to ANACONDA ISLAND, where we’ll find the Caiman Lagoon, a fascinating display of wildlife, including the prehistoric bird "Hoatzin," woolly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and even caimans. Don’t forget your binoculars to catch all the details.

After a short additional hike, we’ll arrive at a small Kichwa community, where we will be welcomed with a box lunch.

In the KICHWA COMMUNITY, you will have the chance to learn about the way of life in the Amazon, including their clothing, rituals, the preparation of yuca chicha, and how they utilize the forest’s resources in their daily lives. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and try traditional drinks and food; they love to share their ancestral knowledge and spread their worldview.

At the CERBATANA CHALLENGE, you’ll get to test your skills with this ancient blowgun weapon. On the way back to the lodge, we’ll stop by the town of Ahuano, where you can watch the local communities shape clay into delicate pottery using materials they find in the forest rivers.

Gold in the Rivers... For centuries, adventurers have been drawn to South America in search of gold. Where did they find it? Mainly in the river sediments, a practice that continues to this day. Locals, using a meticulous technique, spend hours sifting through stones and sand in search of gold traces. This is how they make a living, extracting and selling their findings. As we return to the lodge via the river, you’ll have the chance to see how they carry out this process, using the same techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Dinner and Overnight Stay

DAY 3

WATERFALLS ROUTE

For nature lovers, we recommend starting the day with a birdwatching tour at sunrise, followed by a delicious breakfast.

Around the lodge, we have several waterfalls where you can enjoy various trails, ranging from easy to challenging. You can choose the duration, from 45 minutes to 4 hours. Here are some options:

RAYUCOCHA CANYON: An adventure tour featuring an exciting hike along ancient trails that lead to a hidden waterfall in Alto Pusuno. Moderate difficulty.

RUMI YAKU WATERFALL: A trail filled with several small waterfalls where you can enjoy the fauna of the primary jungle.

UMBUNI WATERFALL: A picturesque waterfall featuring a small pool for jumping and natural slides for sliding down. Easy difficulty.

GRAN CAÑON ÑACHI YAKU

A trail featuring 3 waterfalls, one of which is located inside a cave. The more adventurous can climb up the waterfall and jump approximately 8 meters into a natural pool that will take your breath away. Get ready to scream with excitement! Difficulty: Moderate.

Depending on the option you choose, on your way back to the lodge, you can visit the KAWANA Wildlife Production Lagoon, where aboard a wooden canoe and paddles, you will witness two distinct landscapes and ecosystems, often referred to as the "Little Yasuní."

Once back at the lodge, you can relax by the pool after a day of adventures, share stories with friends and family, and admire the sunset over the river and its lush trees.

Dinner and Farewell Campfire.

DAY 4

CHOCOLATE ROUTE

We will start the day with a delicious breakfast, filled with local flavors and energy for our last adventure.

Artisanal Chocolate Preparation & Tasting with Fruit: Immerse yourself in the world of Amazonian chocolate as we learn about the artisanal process of its production. We will participate in making chocolate from the harvesting of cacao to the final tasting, accompanied by fresh fruits from the region.

After a brief rest and time to pack, we will bid farewell to the lodge team.
