Tour Itinerary

Itinerary "A" - 3 days

Day 1

  • We will meet in Lago Agrio between 9:00 am and 9:30 am. The meeting point is in Magic Paradise hotel, where we will take private transportation to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve.
  • At this point, visitors must register at the Reserve office and then we will board the canoe. Here our naturalist guide will give you information about the Reserve, important recommendations and other tips to begin the two-hour canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to Piranha Ecolodge.
  • During the canoe trip you will be able to enjoy the wonderful flora and fauna found in the jungle.
  • You can also see some of the 10 species of monkeys, birds, and other animals in the jungle, depending on the weather and weather conditions.
  • We will arrive at Piranha Ecolodge. (Around 1:30 pm)
  • We will have lunch.
  • At that time, they will be assigned their rooms and they can relax for a few minutes. Then we will go out by motorized canoe to take a tour around the Laguna Grande to observe the flora and fauna and with many possibilities to see the pink dolphins. Then we will go to the middle of the Laguna Grande to watch the sunset and swim.
  • Next, we will return to the camp for dinner and later we will take a night walk for one hour to spot arachnids, amphibians and hopefully reptiles.
  • Finish the first day in the jungle; you can relax in a hammock or have a beer at the bar.

 Day 2

  • Breakfast 8:00 am
  • 9:30 am Daytime walk in the primary forest, where the guide will explain about the ecology of the Amazon rainforest, plants, flora and fauna and interactions of the ecosystems with the greatest biodiversity on Earth.
  • Lunch
  • We will take a break in the amahacas or rooms. In the afternoon, we will go by motorized canoe to take a tour and look for animals in the trees, such as monkeys, a diversity of birds snakes etc. Trip to the Laguna Grande to wait for the sunset and swim.
  • We will go in search of alligators, snakes and night birds from the motorized canoe.
  • 8:00 pm we will enjoy a special dinner with our guide, where we will share our experiences in the jungle with a farewell cocktail.

Day 3

  • 5:30 am We will take a tour to observe the sunrise and a variety of birds.
  • 8:00 am We will have breakfast at the hotel and prepare for the return at 9:30 am to the Cuyabeno bridge where we will have a Box Lunch and then they will be picked up by our private bus that will take them to Lago Agrio so they can return to Quito either by bus or plane.

  • At 9:00 am we will depart down river to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolivar in a journey of approximately 1:30 hour and there we will be greeted by one of the native women who will take us to the cassava plantation to harvest cassava. With our help they will show us the preparation of one of their traditional foods, casabe (cassave flat bread). Immediately after this, the guide will introduce you to one of the last 4 Shamans of the Siona tribe in Ecuador and one of them will explain his cosmovision directly related to the Ayahuasca drink. A part of the energetic cleansing ritual will take place with their chants that come from a millenary oral tradition from Shaman to apprentice. We will take a brief tour around this place in search of snakes, and more animals that we can find. In addition, we will find one of the largest trees in
  • Ecuador: The Ceibo, where we can take pictures and hug this tree to have much good energy.
  • Lunch
  • We will return to the lodge in the afternoon and go for a swim at sunset at the Laguna Grande and return to the lodge for dinner to relax in a hammock or have a beer at the bar.
  • 4:00pm Return to Piranha.
  • 5:00pm, we will take a tour in the Laguna Grande, and we will see more animals that the jungle offers us. Swim and watch the sunset.
  • 7:30 pm we will enjoy a special dinner with our guide, where we will share our experiences in the jungle with a farewell cocktail.

  • 5:30 am We will take a tour to observe the sunrise and a variety of birds.

  • Night activity (optional): search for caimans or night walk. 

Day 4

  • We will enjoy breakfast at 8:00 am and then we will depart by paddle canoe to the Canangueno Lagoon. Once there we will have the opportunity to see animals such as monkeys, birds, sloths and many more.
  • We will continue our day with a walk in the primary forest, where our guide
  • Will explain about the ecology of the Amazon rainforest and we will be able to see more animals and take hundreds of pictures! (Walk of approximately 3 hours). Lunch will be a box lunch in the jungle.
  • On the way, back we will take a rest in the hammocks. Then we will return to the large lagoon to swim and watch the wonderful sunset.
  • 7:30 pm we will enjoy a special dinner with our guide, where we will share our experiences in the jungle with a farewell cocktail.

Day 5

  • 5:30 am We will take a tour to observe the sunrise and a variety of birds.
  • 8:00 am We will have breakfast at the hotel and prepare for the return at 9:30 am to the Cuyabeno bridge where we will have a Box Lunch and then they will be picked up by our private bus that will take them to Lago Agrio so they can return to Quito either by bus or plane.
