Day 3 – Thursday
AM: POST OFFICE OF THE PAST - POST OFFICE BAY
Start the day by stepping into the footsteps of the past at Post Office Bay, located on the enigmatic Floreana Island. This site is rich in stories from the late 1920s and 1930s involving German settlers, a baroness, unsolved mysteries, and captivating intrigue. The bay was a historical anchoring point for whalers, who traveled to the highlands in search of fresh water and tortoises. A postal system over two centuries old was established as a hub for visiting ships centered around a barrel near the beach. This system still endures today, offering a unique opportunity to send postcards from this remote part of the world.
Besides its rich history, this bay features natural attractions such as a picturesque beach, a lava tunnel, and marine tours where you might spot sea lions, green sea turtles, shorebirds, small sharks, and, if lucky, Galápagos penguins.

PM: NATURE’S WONDER - PUNTA CORMORANT / DEVIL'S CROWN
Direct your expedition north to Punta Cormorant, famed for its extensive coastal lagoon teeming with American flamingos, white-cheeked pintails, black-necked stilts, and other shorebirds. This natural paradise also boasts a pristine white sand beach, a crucial nesting site for green sea turtles, and a recently established breeding ground for blue-footed boobies near the trail.
Day 4 – Friday
AM: SANTA FE'S CONTRASTING BEAUTY
Start the day with the raw beauty of Santa Fe, where towering figures of giant prickly pear cacti stand in striking contrast against the rugged lava rock landscape. Nestled within one of the Galápagos’ most stunning bays, Santa Fe’s turquoise waters and white sandy beaches create a cozy habitat for a significant sea lion colony resting there.
As you venture inland, remember to look down to spot the endemic Santa Fe land iguanas and look up to see Galápagos hawks perched on cacti, watching their prey. You’ll likely encounter Darwin's finches, Galápagos doves, mockingbirds, and lively lava lizards along the trail.

Sea lions populate the island in large numbers, giving you the opportunity to observe their fascinating social dynamics, from playful pups splashing in the tide pools to formidable males protecting their territories.
The trail will eventually lead you to a cliff, a scenic viewpoint to observe a variety of seabirds, including frigates, red-billed tropicbirds, boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and pelicans. A green carpet of reddish succulent vegetation dotted with scattered cacti covers the island, giving South Plazas a genuinely unique personality.

AM: THE CRADLE OF CONSERVATION - CHARLES DARWIN STATION

One of its flagship initiatives includes the captive breeding of giant tortoises, an integral part of their conservation strategy.
